| Editor Note: Saleen Autosport produced four “Special Edition” Mustangs for use by Eagle One Car Care Products. All four featured black paint, special silver Eagle One exterior graphics and silver 16″ DP-5 wheels.
During 1990 Saleen announced an SE model for retail sale with expected production of 25 units. These SE Saleen’s were offered in Black, Cabernet Red and Deep Shadow Blue exterior colors. No retail sale SE models were produced. |

| Editor Note: Saleen Performance and the Western Region of Budget Car Rental teamed to offer specially equipped S281 convertibles at select locations. These convertibles featured 18″x9″ Speedline magnesium wheels, interior Sport Bars and were assigned unique serialization ending in “B”.
For rental duty the original Ford springs were repainted orange and reinstalled. After rental service, red Racecraft springs replaced the Budget springs during reconditioning. Interior serialization plates were not installed for rental duty in fear these would be stolen. Serial plates were shipped from Saleen, to be installed by first owners. A number of units featured damaged magnesium wheels that were replaced before resale. All Budget rental S281s were based on the Ford Mustang GT convertible, featured Ford leather interiors and door guard protectors. Convertible top colors were offered in black or white. Interior color were either black or grey. It is believed that 96-0002B and 96-0008B are lone Speedsters. 96-0002B is the only rental with optional gears. Folklore states: Budget and Saleen disagreed in how to resale and distribute these used S281s. Budget sought no involvement leaving Saleen to liquidate these models through various means and channels. |

The UBB edition was limited to 25 units. One prize car and 24 for event participants to purchase. These editions were also available with optional Max Performance Summer Tires and glass Scenic Roof. One 2006 Torch Red Extreme model (06-0003E) was purchased by event organizer Tim Porter and used for event promotions, UBB Extreme marketing and participated in the rally. These models do not have their own serialization from Saleen. They are included with S281 Extreme production. Cannonball World Events applied a unique 18ct gold plated chassis door plate inscribed with The Great American Run logo and the limited edition ID number. Folklore states: Saleen Inc in Irvine tried to convince Tim Porter to accept available Grabber Orange coupes repainted black for UBB production. All 2007 UBB Extreme models are factory Ford black. |
